radford dale's land of hope educational trust celebrates 20 years.

The idea for the Land of Hope Trust project was conceived in 2006, with the first disbursements beginning in 2007. Initiated against the background of many “smoke and mirrors” projects purporting to uplift Previously Disadvantaged Individuals (PDI), although very few of which seem to genuinely do so.

The direct and sole beneficiaries of this Trust are the previously disadvantaged individual employees of Radford Dale, their children and dependents.

The primary objective of the trust is educational. The long-term social upliftment through the gift of high quality education, skills development and the power of developing knowledge.

the trust welcomes new chairwoman in 2026!

After 20 years of stellar leadership and guidance from our founding Trustee Chairman, John Platter, we bid him a fond farewell and welcome to the fore none other that Cathy Van Zyl MW. Cathy became the first Master of Wine on the African continent when she passed the notoriously difficult MW examination in 2005; today she is still one of only two MWs in Africa, and we're thrilled to have her on board the Trust.

the weight is over

The new packaging for The Winery of Good Hope - launched in July 2024 - is an important step in our on-going commitment to following sustainable practices in the wine industry. The packaging has been overhauled with an eco-friendly focus. This includes all recyclable, lightweight bottles, labels, stickers and cardboard boxes, which in turn use both recyclable sealing tape and internal dividers.

While the packaging for The Winery of Good Hope may be new, the spirit behind the change of direction certainly isn’t. Long has Radford Dale been implementing sustainability and social upliftment measures across their whole stable.
