a note from the winemaker, Petroné Thomas

“Spring 2024 was cool and wet, with the first significant heat arriving only towards the end of December. Throughout the growing season, strong South-Easterly winds were a constant feature in the Elgin Valley. These winds, combined with the cool conditions, played an important role in maintaining healthy vineyards and were particularly beneficial in our organically farmed blocks, helping to keep disease pressure low.

The cooler growing season resulted in a slightly delayed harvest in Elgin, allowing the grapes to remain on the vines for longer and develop excellent phenological ripeness without excessive sugar accumulation. The 2025 vintage produced grapes with remarkable flavour and phenolic development, while maintaining naturally low alcohol.

Combined with our naturally high acidities, the wines have great freshness and showcase the terroir and character of the vintage perfectly.”
